Claire Homard

Claire Homard was brought up and educated in Flintshire and studied History and American Studies at Aberystwyth University between 1983 and 1986. After a period of working in industry, she qualified as a primary school teacher in 1989 and worked in a number of schools in North Yorkshire and Essex. She returned to Flintshire in 1998 to take up a headteacher position and after nine years was appointed by Flintshire County Council to lead on the implementation of the Foundation Phase curriculum for 3-7 year olds across all Flintshire schools.

Since then, Claire has taken on a number of school improvement roles within the Council covering early years, primary and secondary, and in 2018 was appointed as the Chief Officer for Education and Youth Services, fulfilling the role of statutory Director of Education. Claire is a member of the Management Board for the Regional School Improvement Service, GwE and a member of the Association of Directors of Education in Wales.
