8 Reasons to Learn Something New in the New Year

2020 was a tough year, but 2021 can be the year your life changed for the better by learning something new. Whether you want to advance your career, find a job, change direction or learn for pleasure, learning something new can benefit you in so many ways.

Here are 8 reasons to learn something new at Wrexham Glyndŵr University.

1. Boost your job prospects

Learning something new can help you to improve your career prospects. Choosing a course that is linked to the career you want shows that you can use initiative, are willing to learn and most importantly have the skills needed for the job you want.

2. Learn a skill

If you’re looking to try something that you’ve always been interested in but never had the chance to go out and do, one of our evening classes could be for you. (And we’re quite proud of the variety of courses we offer!) Students can walk away knowing how to make jewellery, use IT programmes or even record a crime scene!

3. Make new friends

You gain more than knowledge when you enrol on a course. You’ll find yourself surrounded by like-minded people, as well as people from different backgrounds and experiences who are all interested in the same thing as you. It’s a great opportunity to make some new friends.

4. Find a new hobby

We have a range of short courses starting throughout 2021. Even if you have no experience, just give it a go! You might find it’s something you really enjoy doing and want to continue with.

5. Gain a qualification

Whether it’s a short course, degree or PhD, gaining a qualification can be a life changing step. If you’re not sure which level is right for you, get in touch with our enquires team who’ll be happy to help.

6. Improve yourself

Perhaps you finished your degree a few years ago and now it’s time to continue to postgraduate level? Or maybe you have a diploma and are ready to go for your degree. If you’ve been thinking about taking the next step, take a look at our courses

7. You’ll be supported

Here at Glyndwr, we offer lots of support to all of our students during their studies and beyond. So whether you’re coming back to education after many years, or are trying something completely new, we are here to support you with everything from Dyslexia support to careers advice and study skills.

8. Find your calling

What starts as a one off or a potential hobby could turn into a thriving career or business. Life is what you make it after all - You never know until you try!
