Growing the Team From Home

“In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity”
Albert Einstein.

At a time where many businesses are being forced to make difficult decisions regarding the future of their employees, we are extremely fortunate to be growing our Enterprise team; to serve not only our University and existing partners, but to increase our overall support offering and expertise in order to reach more businesses and contacts than ever before.

We welcomed Ann Bell as our Bilingual Communications Officer in August, who is actively raising our profile across our social media platforms, evolving our marketing and communications and supporting with events. Emily joined shortly after as our Administrator and will be supporting the entire team with administration from Short Courses to Degree Apprenticeships and much more! Our most recent recruit is Chloe Huxley, who has joined the team as Business Development Officer and has hit the ground running in taking part in a wide range of online networking events as well as planning ones of our own.

Our team however isn’t the only one growing at this time: there has been a surge in recruitment activity happening in the UK throughout the coronavirus crisis, across sectors such as technology, banking, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and logistics, as well as the more obvious food growers, suppliers and supermarkets. Long gone for most however (for the time being at least), is the traditional ‘in person’ interview, and in its place has become the ‘new normal’ online video interviewing processes, something that didn’t initially come with a handbook yet something that many companies have taken in their stride and would go as far as saying that it’s something that they will continue to do, if not only for 1st and 2nd stage interviews when things return to a more familiar ‘normal’ in the future.

Interviewing and on-boarding processes have been adapted by HR teams and managers across the country so that everything can be done entirely online, albeit a little differently. Our Enterprise Team are extremely proud to have succeeded in our recruitment processes bringing in new members of the team ‘from home’ to feel as welcomed and as included as possible, and in bringing people together regularly for team talks and discussions online, we can collectively achieve the progress and continued growth we set out to achieve.

Great things in any business are not just achieved by one person but as a team, and ours is most certainly one to watch at the moment!

In response to the changes in business processes and to support business growth at this difficult and uncertain time, we have developed a number of online short courses to support leaders and managers, as well as to steer focus onto career and personal development in the following areas, with courses being run from January 2021:

Business Innovation and Growth
Intro to Business Management
• Business Resilience Management
Change Management and Organisational Change
Business Operations Management
