Make 'a Day' of Our Open Day

A group of students walking outside campus

If you’re coming to see us at our Open Day, why not make a full day of it and see what else Wrexham has to offer while you’re visiting? Here’s a few of our favourite suggestions of things to do before and after our open day.

Head into town for a morning coffee

Wrexham is home to some pretty great independent coffee shops, like Bank Street and Lot 11. Grab a drink or a mid-morning snack before a busy day exploring Wrexham Glyndŵr University.

Visit Tŷ Pawb

If you’re into arts/markets/live music, then the town centre’s arts and culture hub, Tŷ Pawb (which means 'Everybody's House' in Welsh), is a great place to stop by. You’ll find some great market stalls, two art galleries and a food court with great local produce.

Say hello to the Wrexham Sheep

Since 2016, sheep have been popping up all over Wrexham (but these aren't your average sheep!). What started as a flock of 20 sheep sculptures, is now a trail of over 30 sheep specially designed, decorated and displayed by local groups, organisations and businesses.

Take a walk (or canal boat) across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct

Did you know that Wrexham is home to a World Heritage Site? Yes, built over 200 years ago, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is the largest aqueduct in the UK. If you have a head for heights, a trip across the 38 meters high aqueduct gives some breath-taking views of the local countryside.

Visit National Trust attractions

Just minutes away from our Wrexham campus, you’ll find Erddig, an 18th-century country house, gardens and parkland. Or on the outskirts of Wrexham, you could visit Chirk Castle

Wrexham has everything you could need for a great night

Whether it's live music at The Rockin' Chair and The Parish, a pint and the latest sporting action at Hill Street Social, bars and clubs like Atik or a cosy dinner and cocktails at the Fat Boar, there's something for absolutely everyone.

And that's not forgetting our very own on-campus SU bar Glyn's - a must if you're a student.

Of course, the main thing we want you to get out of your visit to Wrexham is to find out all about the courses that interest you and see everything that Wrexham Glyndŵr University has to offer! If you’ve not booked your place on our open day yet, you can here.

Do you have another suggestion of things to do in Wrexham? Let us know – we’d love to hear from you!
