While the way in which we will deliver some of the services and facilities we provide for our students may have changed in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the University remains fully committed to delivering an excellent range of student support, student services and facilities to enhance your academic study. More information can be found here.

The enriched learning environment provided at the Northop Campus has helped countless students get ahead in their education. Situated in the rural village of Northop, the campus reflects the backgrounds and cultures of the local areas, specialising in the teaching of Equine Science and Animal Behaviour, Welfare and Conservation.

Northop plays host to around 100 students per year, creating a community where everyone grows together and learning is provided in a much more interactive and intimate way.

In addition to lecture and teaching rooms, the campus boasts environmental and science laboratories, an organic farm production unit, ancient woodland and conservation areas, and formal and informal gardens.

The site is also home to the land-based campus of our collaborative partner Coleg Cambria, and our students are able to take advantage of several state-of-the-art facilities, such as the Small Animals Care Centre, which houses a number of small animals and incorporates different habitats for them, ranging from marmoset monkeys and rabbits to snakes and fish.

British Horse Society (BHS) Approved Equine Unit

The BHS Approved Equine Unit and Exam Centre provides students with a range of excellent facilities suitable for practical sessions and events.

The superb purpose-built facilities at the campus include an indoor arena with a viewing gallery (50x30), a floodlit outdoor arena (60x40), stabling, paddocks and two cross country courses. There are also facilities for hacking in the grounds of the campus.

For those who are keen equestrians, the unit is a popular venue for clinics and competitions held by associated and external parties, giving students extra opportunities to gain experience, often with top riders and well-renowned trainers and experts.

Sports Hall

The refurbished Sports Hall at the Northop Campus allows for basketball, badminton, netball, table tennis, 5-a-side football and volleyball.

Students can undertake activities throughout the day (subject to availability). All commercial recreational bookings are welcome and can be hired as a 'one off' or be block booked. The hall can also be used for events, promotions & educational activities (catering option available). The campus also provides cross country running and orienteering courses, for people and horses.

In addition to the sports facilities on the Northop Campus, students will also have access to all the facilities available through the Sports Centre on the Wrexham Campus. These include a water-based international hockey pitch, a sand-based pitch for football and, inside the Sports Centre, a 1000sqm wooden sprung floor, dance studio, fitness suite and spectator facilities.
