What you will study
YEAR 1 (LEVEL 4)
The first year gives you the foundation knowledge required for a career in engineering. Key to this is the first project module in the course which enables you to implement the knowledge gained in your studies.

YEAR 2 (LEVEL 5)
In the second year, you will focus more on the core subject of the degree with specific modules in sustainability and renewable energy. The second capstone project requires you to undertake an environmental feasibility study in your workplace. This industry-focused project will enable the business to see the progression of your knowledge and show how to make improvements to processes to increase sustainability.

YEAR 3 (LEVEL 6)
The final year of the degree aims to further converge the content of the programme towards sustainability and efficiency and low carbon energy. The final year projects act as a focus for all the studies. It builds on the capstone projects in earlier years to fully implement a solution to improve sustainability and efficiency in your business.

Modules are designated as core or option in accordance with professional body requirements and internal academic framework review, so may be subject to change.
Entry requirements & applying
The standard entry requirements of the University for this programme are (for Level 4 entry):
- 48-72 UCAS tariff points from appropriate level 3 qualification such as A Levels
- 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C, including Maths and English Language/Welsh
Applicants without the necessary UCAS tariff points, or who have qualifications that do not carry UCAS tariff points, will be considered based on their professional experience within the industry they intend to study the apprenticeship in. All applicants who do not meet the above requirements will be interviewed prior to being made an offer, providing those without formal UCAS tariff points the opportunity to demonstrate how their skills and experiences from within the industry make them a suitable candidate for this programme of study.
Teaching & Assessment
The course is on one day per week for a full calendar year.
Assessment will be via essays, projects, work-based assignments, examinations, case studies and portfolios.
Teaching will be a blend of face to face provision, online content, tutorials, self-guided study and practical sessions.

Fees & funding
The programme is fully funded if the company is based in Wales.
You do not have to pay your tuition fees upfront.
Wrexham Glyndŵr University’s tuition fees for 2023/24 for a full-time undergraduate degree course are £9000 per year.
