  • Final Information in relation to your ceremony

    Distribution of Guest Tickets

    If you requested/purchased any guest tickets for your Graduation ceremony you can collect these on the day of your ceremony when you register. Where possible please bring your student ID card with you to register and collect your tickets. Unfortunately it is not possible to collect any tickets before your ceremony.

    Please find below schedules for each ceremony explaining everything you need to know in preparation for your ceremony including the times you need to arrive and the rooms you will need to go to.

    Please ensure you arrive in plenty of time for your ceremony as you will need to allow time to register and collect your gown. You need to be seated ready for the start of the ceremony to be checked by a marshal by no later than 10am for a morning ceremony and 2pm for an afternoon ceremony. Late students will not be permitted entry to the ceremony.

    • Registration is open from 8.30-9.45am for a morning ceremony and 12.30-1.45pm for an afternoon ceremony.
    • Registration closes promptly at 9.45am for a morning ceremony and 1.45pm for an afternoon ceremony.
    • You will need to allow time to collect your gown.
    • You will need to be seated in the hall by no later than 10am for a morning ceremony and 2pm for an afternoon ceremony.
    • A Marshal will then check that you are sitting in the correct seat.
    • The ceremony will start at 10.30am for a morning ceremony and 2.30pm for an afternoon ceremony.
    • Accommodations cannot be made for late students.

    Therefore you need to be on campus by no later than 8.30am for a morning Ceremony and 12.30pm for an afternoon ceremony to ensure you are ready in time for your ceremony

    Wheelchair user notice

    If you are a wheelchair user, view the Wheelchair User Notice 2022 to see the information in relation to the weight capacity and dimensions of the wheelchair lift if you wish to use this lift to go onto the stage.

  • Deadline for Registration

    Please note that registration for Graduation 2022 has now closed (as of the 22nd August 2022 at 4.30pm).

    If you still wish to attend your ceremony please contact the graduation team at as soon as possible.

    Please note however that you will not be entitled to any free guest tickets as you have missed the deadline, and you will only be able to buy guest tickets at £15 per ticket online if any remain. Please see the guest ticket section below for more information on how to do this.

  • Who is eligible to attend a ceremony?

    To be eligible to attend a Graduation ceremony students must pass their course with an eligible award.

    Please note if you are a WGU Online Student you will only be eligible to attend this ceremony if you have successfully achieved your award by 12nd August 2022 following your assessment process. Any WGU Online students who achieve their award after this date will be invited to the next set of Graduation ceremonies.

    Some awards are not included in the Wrexham Glyndŵr University Graduation ceremonies and so you would not receive an invitation if you achieve one of these awards.

    Additionally students studying at certain Partner institutions are not included in the Wrexham Glyndŵr University ceremonies, as these partners hold their own celebration events, and so you will not receive an invitation.

  • Clearing Outstanding Debt

    All students wishing to attend their Graduation ceremony must have settled any outstanding debt by the 22nd August 2022 to be eligible to attend. To check your status, please contact accounts receivable in the Finance department by phone on (01978) 293037 or by email

    If you are a student studying at a Partner College, please check with the Partner College’s Finance team directly.

  • Can I attend my ceremony if I do not achieve my intended award?

    Please note if you are studying for a Bachelor’s degree, Foundation Degree or Diploma of Higher Education you will not be permitted to attend your Graduation ceremony if you achieve a lower exit award of Certificate of Higher Education, as this level of award is not included in the ceremonies. This will apply regardless of you completing the online registration process.

    If you do achieve an award of Certificate of Higher Education you will not receive any final emails from us in preparation for your ceremony with a schedule for the day and times of arrival etc as we will not be expecting you. If you have any queries around your award please email

  • Guest Tickets

    Extra Guest Tickets


    If you require extra tickets you can visit the General Enquires Desk on the day of your ceremony to see if any additional tickets are available.

    Alternatively your guests can go into the Nick Whitehead Theatre next to the William Aston Hall where the ceremony will be screened live. This is free of charge and you do not require a ticket and is first come first served.

    Ticket packs

    If you request any free guest tickets or purchase any additional guest tickets, please note these will not be posted out, but can be collected when you register on the day of your ceremony.

    You will receive an email a few weeks before your ceremony, with a schedule for the day and all other information you will need.

    If your guests are arriving separately to you on the day, you can leave any guest tickets you collect when you register with the General Enquiries Desk for collection.

  • How is my personal data processed for Graduation purposes?

    Wrexham Glyndŵr University has a responsibility under data protection legislation to provide individuals with information about how we process their personal information. There are a number of ways to do this, one of which is the publication of privacy notices.

    If you do not wish your name to be published in the Graduation programme or any other published announcement made by Wrexham Glyndŵr University please Request to withhold details form graduation 2022 and complete a “Request to withhold personal details” form.

    This form will need to be completed and returned by email to by the deadline of 22nd August 2022.

  • Hiring Your Gown

    As your Graduation ceremony is a formal occasion, you must wear full academic dress to be permitted to cross the stage. Full Academic dress consists of a gown, a hood and a hat. Ede & Ravenscroft are the company recommended by the University who hold the full academic dress for hire.

    Please visit Ede and Ravenscroft Gown Hire (online order page) to order your gown.

    Please note you cannot use your Glyndŵr University username and password to log into the Ede and Ravenscroft site as an existing customer. Instead you will need to set yourself up as a new customer in the top section of the screen.

    You need to order the gown for the relevant award provider that you have opted to receive your award from (Glyndŵr University, EdExcel, the University of Wales or the University of Chester). You are provided with this information on your “registration complete” email that is sent to you once you have fully completed your online registration.

    The cost of hire for your gown depends on the level of award you require. Approximate prices can be found below. (Please note these were correct at the time of going to print but are subject to change. A final price will be confirmed by Ede and Ravenscroft directly when you order your gown. These prices refer to the online ordering price and prices are higher if ordered via the Ede and Ravenscroft Call Centre).

    • BTEC/EdExcel awards: £37
    • Foundation degrees, Certificates/Diplomas, Bachelor degrees: £45
    • Master degrees and Postgraduate level Certificates/Diplomas: £51
    • Professional Doctorates, MPhil and PhD’s: £58

    It is essential that you order your robes as soon as possible, but by no later than one month before your ceremony. Refunds can be given on gowns that are no longer required if sufficient notice is given.

  • Book your photography option

    Please visit Ede and Ravenscroft to book your photography option. Further information will be provided on the website with the prices and package options available.

  • Give the Gift of Books!

    As you return to campus for your Graduation we would also welcome the return of any library books you might still have. It doesn’t matter how overdue, we will just be happy to see the books returned. Fines will be waived on books which are returned and they can be left at the drop off zones in various locations or handed to a Marshall on the day.

  • Book a Traditional Afternoon Tea

    We will be offering the option of booking a traditional afternoon tea during Graduation – for further information and to book please visit the online store. Please note bookings will close on Friday 21st October 22. 

  • Travel Information

    The ceremonies are being held at the University’s Plas Coch Campus in Wrexham in the William Aston Hall.

    Travelling by car – There will be limited car parking on site during Graduation and some parking will be available on campus for those requiring special assistance. Please speak to a parking steward on arrival if you require any special assistance.

    Travelling by train - the closest station to the University campus is Wrexham General Station which is approximately a 5-10 minute walk from the campus.

    Hotels – Hotels in the locality include:

    •  The Wrexham Town Centre Premier Inn hotel
    • The Ramada Plaza Wrexham

    Both of these hotels are a short 5-10 minute walk from the University campus.

  • Degree Certificates

    Please note your certificate will be dispatched to you by post in the months following the award board that confirmed your award.

    If your place of study was in the UK, or you are a WGU Online student, your certificate will be dispatched to the ‘home’ address that we currently hold on file for you.

    If you studied at one of our partner institutions outside of the UK, your certificate will be dispatched to the central office of your University and dispatch/ collection of your certificate will be arranged by your University.

    Once certificates are dispatched, they may take up to one month to be delivered via Royal Mail for UK students and up to two months to be delivered via international postal carriers for students outside of the UK.
