Graduation 2024

Graduation will take place at our Wrexham campus over three days, Wednesday, May 29 – Friday, May 31.

This occasion will consist of a formal ceremony in which you will walk across the stage in the William Aston Hall to shake hands with the Vice-Chancellor. This will be followed by a festival-style celebration, that will provide a space outside for graduands and their families to relax and mingle with each other. There will be live entertainment, outdoor games, a range of different photo opportunities, a wide selection of food stalls, a bar and lots more for you to enjoy!

If you are an international student you must have valid leave to be in the UK to attend your ceremony. If your student visa is due to expire before the ceremonies you will need to apply for a visitor’s visa. Please see FAQs below for further information.

I missed last year’s graduation, can I attend this years?

We are sorry to hear that you were unable to make it to graduation. Unfortunately, it is not possible for Graduates from previous years to be included in any future ceremonies. Each Graduation period is for the relevant students who graduated within that academic year, and have to be carefully managed in terms of numbers attending and space available in the ceremony venue. This is in line with our standard practice for any graduation. We apologise for any disappointment and we wish you well for all your future endeavours.

I can’t attend this year’s graduation, can I attend next year’s?

Unfortunately, it will not be possible to include you in any future ceremonies, only the upcoming Graduation ceremony which is being run for your cohort.
What if I need an invitation for my VISA?

Invitation letters can be used as evidence of your reason for needing to travel to the UK. If you require a letter, please contact Graduation@wrexham.ac.uk and one will be supplied.
Where can I register for graduation?

Registration for this year’s Graduation has now passed. If you did not register by the deadline, unfortunately you will not be able to be attend.
Where can I get guest tickets for graduation?

You will have received an email that includes information regarding the ordering of guest tickets, gowns and photography. This email will be from Ede & Ravenscroft and Graduation@wrexham.ac.uk. We advise that you also check your junk inbox. Please note, you will have up until April 15 to reserve guest tickets.
How many tickets can I get?

Each student is welcome to select up to 2 guest tickets free of charge.
Can I reserve or purchase more than 2 tickets?

Additional tickets may be released for guests at a later date. However, venue capacity is limited and therefore, this will be determined by how many initial tickets are reserved in the first instance.
What is the cost for cap and gown hire?

The price of this varies depending on the level of award - full information on this will be available via the link included in the email sent from Ede & Ravenscroft and Graduation@wrexham.ac.uk. We advise that you also check your junk inbox.
Where can I order my gown?

When will I hear more about my accessibility requirements?

If you highlighted any special adjustments and/or accessibility requirements on the registration form, rest assured these have been noted. Further details to assist with this will come in due course.
My guests have accessibility requirements, how can I inform you?

You will be given the opportunity to highlight any accessibility requirements or adjustments needed for guests once you have booked guest tickets, gowning and the option of photography.
Is there a dress code?

You will need to wear formal attire, information about hiring your robes is available on the email sent from Ede & Ravenscroft and Graduation@wrexham.ac.uk. We advise that you also check your junk inbox.
Will family and friends who aren't attending, still be able to watch the ceremony?

Further information about the live streaming of the ceremonies will be available closer to the time. If the ceremonies are screened live you will be able to access these from the Graduation Video Streaming webpage. Although we will try our best, we are unable to guarantee the streaming service during times of high demand as they are provided by YouTube and as such are out of our control.

Travel Information

The ceremonies are being held at the University’s Plas Coch Campus in Wrexham in the William Aston Hall.

Travelling by car – There will be limited car parking on site during Graduation and some parking will be available on campus for those requiring special assistance. Please speak to a parking steward on arrival if you require any special assistance.

Travelling by train - the closest station to the University campus is Wrexham General Station which is approximately a 5-10 minute walk from the campus.

Hotels – Hotels in the locality include:

The Wrexham Town Centre Premier Inn hotel
The Ramada Plaza Wrexham

Both of these hotels are a short 5-10 minute walk from the University campus.

Give the gift of books!

As you return to campus for your Graduation we would also welcome the return of any library books you might still have. It doesn’t matter how overdue, we will just be happy to see the books returned. Fines will be waived on books which are returned and they can be left at the drop off zones in various locations or handed to a Marshall on the day.

Degree certificates

Please note your certificate will be dispatched to you by post in the months following the award board that confirmed your award.

If your place of study was in the UK, or you are a WU Online student, your certificate will be dispatched to the ‘home’ address that we currently hold on file for you.

If you studied at one of our partner institutions outside of the UK, your certificate will be dispatched to the central office of your University and dispatch/ collection of your certificate will be arranged by your University.

Once certificates are dispatched, they may take up to one month to be delivered via Royal Mail for UK students and up to two months to be delivered via international postal carriers for students outside of the UK.

Select Personal Information on the top navigation bar and you can then view your ‘Personal Details’ and ‘Contact Details’.
