Wrexham Glyndŵr University is based in North East Wales. Our main campus in Wrexham is ideally located to give students a memorable experience of studying in the UK. Wrexham is a safe and vibrant town with plenty to see and do. Only an hour away from the major cities of Liverpool and Manchester, with beautiful scenery, heritage sites and outdoor activities right on the doorstep, Wrexham is a great location for students to experience British university life. 

We offer vocationally relevant courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in a wide range of subjects, including business, engineering, science, computing and the creative arts. Our career-focused curriculums are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to help them gain successful employment and prepare them for life in the workforce after graduation. Students will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through work placements and the chance to showcase their work in competitions and exhibitions.

Academic Entry Requirements

We are happy to consider applicants with the Greek-Cypriot Apolytirion. As a guide, we will be looking for marks of 17/20, with a minimum of 16 in English Language (for 2019 entry only; from 2020 entry we will only accept IELTS as detailed below). For entry to a Foundation Year, we would be looking for a minimum of 14/20. 

We will also consider applications from those with the Greek-Turkish Devlet Lise Diplomasi or Lise Bitirme Diplomasi, with a minimum GPA of 2.5/5 or 5/10 for entry to a Foundation Year, and a 4/5 or 8/10 for year 1 undergraduate study.

For postgraduate study, we require the Ptychion (bachelor’s degree) when studied at the Open University of Cyprus, University of Cyprus or Cyprus University of Technology.

For all levels of study, we’d also look for evidence of your English language ability. If you’ve taken an IELTS test, we’d look for:

  • Undergraduate – 6.0 overall, with no band below 6.0. Individual bands score of 0.5 below this required total may be considered. Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with 26 points or more will be considered for direct admission to Bachelor degree courses
  • Postgraduate – 6.5 overall with no band below 6.5. Individual band scores of 0.5 below this required total may be considered.

English Language Entry Requirements

To meet the English language entry requirements at Wrexham Glyndŵr University, international students are expected to have achieved:

The Greek-Cypriot Apolytirion: 16 in English Language (for 2019 entry); IETLS 6.0 or equivalent (from 2020 entry).

The Greek-Turkish Devlet Lise Diplomasi /Lise Bitirme Diplomasi: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent

Alternatively, one of the following qualifications listed below will also be accepted. All certificates/qualifications accepted are assessed based on their equivalence to 6.0 overall and a minimum of 5.5 in each component of the IELTS for UKVI (Academic) test. Selected programmes require grades equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each skill score. If you are a national of a UKVI Approved Majority English Speaking Country, or you have completed a degree in a UKVI Approved Majority English Speaking Country in the last 5 years, you will be exempt from meeting this requirement.
