Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Claire Taylor will leave Wrexham Glyndwr University to become the new Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive at Plymouth Marjon University from May 2023.

Professor Taylor joined the university as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Education in August 2016. In her current role, she has led academic provision and the quality of student learning opportunities across the university.

Announcing Professor Taylor’s move, Wrexham Glyndwr University Vice-Chancellor Professor Maria Hinfelaar said: “I am delighted that Claire has secured the role of Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive at Plymouth Marjon University.

“This is a proud moment for Wrexham Glyndwr University, and I extend my warmest congratulations to Claire, who has been critical in the transformational change we have achieved across the organisation with tremendously positive impact for students, staff, our communities and region.

“It is fantastic to see a Deputy Vice-Chancellor being successful at taking that next step up to become a Vice-Chancellor elsewhere in the UK Higher Education sector.

“I am delighted for Claire and wish her every success in her new role. I have enjoyed working closely with her for so many years at the university and look forward to welcoming her as a colleague Vice-Chancellor in the sector soon.”

Looking ahead to taking up her new role, Professor Taylor said: “I am incredibly pleased to be joining Plymouth Marjon University as its next Vice-Chancellor and am looking forward to the opportunities and challenges ahead.

“Like Wrexham Glyndwr University, Marjon is a values-based university, rooted in a background of social inclusion and with similarly outstanding student satisfaction ratings.

“Having worked at the university for approaching seven years, I shall miss so many good friends and colleagues, and would like to thank them for supporting me at every stage of my time here. It’s been truly wonderful.”
