Students who are considering applying for university and would like more information and guidance about Welsh Medium provision while studying are being invited to an event taking place next week at Wrexham Glyndwr University.

The Welsh Opportunities event, which is taking place on Wednesday 14 December between 11am-2pm, is open to students studying at college or sixth form, who are looking for advice and guidance regarding Welsh language provision at the university.

During the event, students will have the opportunity to speak to lecturers and to take part in taster activities all through the medium of Welsh, as well as listen to a talk about the benefits of bilingualism and the opportunities it brings.

Elen Mai Nefydd, Head of Welsh Medium Academic Development at Wrexham Glyndwr University, said: “Our Welsh Opportunities event will be a brilliant opportunity for prospective university students to come and hear all about how we at Wrexham Glyndwr University support students in using the Welsh language as part of their studies.

“We are proud to say that we are fully committed to sector-wide developments in relation to Welsh-medium provision and offer an increasing number of modules which can be studied through the medium of Welsh across subjects such as Occupational Therapy; Speech and Language; and Law, for example.

“If you are currently in the process of applying for university and have questions relating to Welsh medium provision, be that learning through the medium of Welsh, assessments, pastoral care, accommodation, and opportunities through Y Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, or anything else, please do come along as our friendly team members will be on hand to answer all of your questions. We look forward to meeting you!”

Wrexham Glyndwr University is committed to making a positive contribution to the development of the Welsh language and to adhering to the Welsh Language standards.
