Edward Hewitt-Symonds

Job Role
Senior Lecturer in Counselling

Brought up and educated at King’s Chester, Ed worked within the commercial world for 25 years, both within North Wales and to Senior Regional level within West Midlands and Wales.

Subsequently, he set up and ran two commercial  businesses, and more recently a counselling business linked to his own private practice.

Deciding on a change of career, he qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor at Glyndwr University, and whilst continuing to work in practice, he accepted an invitation to teach on the Glyndwr Counselling programme, initially on the Introduction short course, up to role now as Programme Leader.

Ed lives locally in Wrexham, and has a passion for Art, Live Theatre and Music, as well as more active interests around cooking and wine, and developing a professional interest in ecotherapy into something practical through gardening, and walking.

He continues to explore his own Academic interests through a Masters degree at Bath Spa University, especially around multi-cultural issues in counselling, and those linked to challenges around ensuring greater diversity and inclusivity within the counselling profession, but also amongst clients seeking counselling.
