Biography

I joined the Wrexham Glyndŵr University team in May 2013. Prior to this, I worked as a Family Court Advisor with public and private law proceedings in the Family Courts. I have over 15 years’ experience of working within the private, public and voluntary sector. I graduated from Cambridge University with a BA (cantab), MA, University of Central Lancashire with BSc (Hons) and NEWI with my Dip Social Work.

My main social work role has been primarily within mental health, safeguarding and child protection work. I have also founded several community based projects, and have extensive experience of inter-agency working. I am also a first language Welsh speaker, who was born and brought up in North Wales.

Research

I am currently undertaking my PhD, looking at the conceptual frames within child protection assessments.

I also have a research and practice interest in the philosophical underpinnings of social work, analysis tools, and in the development of integrational practice.
