Biography

Before teaching at the University, I worked within the voluntary sector caring for young children under 5 years old. My working life as a childcare practitioner began in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s as a nursery nurse. Throughout the years I have always been interested in children’s health and wellbeing and how a child’s early experiences can impact upon this, and have a passion for working closely with parents to help improve outcomes for children. Consequently, I undertook research at masters level focusing on the mental health and wellbeing of primary aged school children and how strategies within schools foster this. A journal article has been published as a result of the study.

When I have down time, I like to spend it with my family and walking the dog.

Courses

I teach modules within the education suite and take leadership of child and adolescent health and wellbeing at level 5, research methods at level 5, working with families with young children at level 6 and special educational needs at level 6.
