Karen has been a qualified Physiotherapist for 26 years and specialises in working with people with learning disabilities.
Karen works part-time at Wrexham Glyndŵr University, teaching on the BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy course. She also works part-time at Derwen College in Oswestry, as a Manager of physiotherapy services, and a Clinician for students. Karen delivers physiotherapy to young adults with learning disabilities, with a focus on enabling access to education and a community-style rehabilitation/management of long term and neurological conditions. She is also responsible for the moving and handling of people, in terms of risk assessment and staff training.

Prior to this, Karen has worked in a number of NHS Trusts and independent acute healthcare settings. This lead to Karen becoming a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at Colchester Institute, Essex. Heading back to clinical, after 13 years of working with people with learning disabilities, she has also continued to be a guest lecturer on undergraduate physiotherapy programmes.

Karen enjoys her family and church and running with her dog. She is just as happy walking and climbing as she is knitting and crocheting.
