Karen Griffiths

Biography
I started my nursing career many years ago by undertaking the Orthopaedic Nursing Certificate. I then completed general nursing and worked in an acute medical ward as a Staff Nurse. My first Ward Sisters post was in Rheumatology. I then worked in a variety of orthopaedic wards and departments and completed an emergency nurse practitioner course and children’s nursing qualification during this time. After spending a year as a Clinical Placement Facilitator supporting nursing students in placement I moved into higher education as a Lecturer in Children’s Nursing.
Prior to joining Wrexham Glyndwr University I was a Senior Lecturer in Children’s Nursing at Staffordshire University with additional responsibilities as Course Lead and Practice Learning Allocation Lead for Children’s Nursing. Being dual trained as an adult and children’s nurse I also contributed to shared modules and adult nursing modules.
I have a Cocker Spaniel who keeps me entertained (and exercised). I enjoy watching a variety of sports and like quiz shows and dramas.
