Rhiannon Macpherson

Job Role
Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy

I graduated from Coventry University as an occupational therapist in 1994.  For most of my career I have worked with children and young people.  I have been fortunate to work in USA and New Zealand as an occupational therapist and most recently I worked as a Clinical Specialist within a children and young person’s team.  I have also worked as a clinician within the independent sector.

I have a keen interest in ensuring that occupational therapy remains focussed on the things that people do (their occupations) and I developed a special clinical interest in Developmental Coordination Disorder and the use of cognitive approaches as an intervention.

I am interested in effective occupational therapy interventions for children and young people.  I am particularly interested in how occupational therapists use research evidence to inform their practice.
