Steffan has been a professional musician for twenty years. During this time, he has worked as a studio drummer, live performer, and teacher. Past performances and recordings include Glastonbury Festival, NXNE, SXSW, Canadian Music Week, Cardiff Millennium Stadium, BT Murrayfield Stadium, Etihad Stadium, Maida Vale Studios, Real World Studios, Abbey Road Studios, in addition to sessions for BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio Wales, BBC 1 and the Dave Channel. Steffan is the drummer in the band, Seazoo, who were nominated for the Welsh Music Prize in 2018.
As a lecturer in Creative Media Technology, Steffan is committed to ensuring the students in the Creative Media department are given both the technical skills and industry-based experience to prepare them for their professional careers. Steffan is able to provide this guidance to students through his previous industry experience and ongoing Ph.D. research.
