Debbie is a BSc Mental Health & Wellbeing student in her 1st year at Wrexham Glyndŵr University. 

 

What were you doing before coming to Wrexham Glyndŵr University?

I was a teaching assistant and youth support worker for ten years.

What attracted you to Wrexham Glyndŵr University?

It is close to home so I can commute and is extremely inclusive for non-traditional learners.

What do you enjoy most about your course?

It is well run and organised. The staff are really approachable and supportive.

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

I want to support young people with mental health problems and educate others.

What has the support been like?

Fantastic, lecturers are always available for advice and support. Extra academic support is also available on a one-to-one or small group basis, and lunchtime drop-in sessions.

How do you think you have benefited from studying at Wrexham Glyndŵr University?

My knowledge in my subject area has improved massively, but also my IT skills, communication skills and confidence have massively improved. I have made new friends and my wellbeing has improved.

If you were to sum up your experience at Wrexham Glyndŵr University in one word, what would it be and why?

Fantastic! My life has changed completely for the better. This is the best thing I have ever done and I am loving every minute.
