Huw studied BSc Computer Game Development and MSc Computer Game Development at Wrexham Glyndŵr University.

What were you doing before coming to Wrexham Glyndŵr University?

I studied an Extended Diploma in Computer Games Development at College, Coleg Menai Llangefni; for 2 years.

What attracted you to WGU, and to this course?

The main attraction to me making my final decision to come to WGU was because I wanted to keep developing my skills from College. The University open days were also a huge attraction because I got to know the lecturers. The best part is that there was no difference in personality from meeting them at an open day compared to during lectures. Another bonus at the time was that it wasn’t too far from home and not too close from home. It was also the only university in North Wales that had a Computer Games Development course.

What did you enjoy most about your course?

I have been fortunate enough to develop and improve many different skills during my course, and been able to implement them to the standards of those in the industry. And the major self-confidence boost that I gained during the course.

What surprised you most about studying it?

The biggest surprise of studying it was definitely how we could work with/for some of the largest names in the industry, and showing off our products to them. It was such a huge surprise to know that our lecturers had connections in high places within the industry.

How do you think you have benefited from studying at WGU? (Whether professionally, personally or academically)

Professionally, studying at WGU has helped me reach the highest standards to meet the regulations within the industry. Personally, it’s helped a significant amount with my confidence. Academically, it’s helped me get a degree in something I really enjoy and learn a lot of new skills along the way.

How do you think your course will help you in your career?

The course will help me immensely in my career. Fortunately, we are even given the right tools and taught the necessary skills to set up our own company.

What was the support like?

I can’t praise the support of the lecturers enough. It’s such a huge benefit when I walk into my lecture, to their office, or even in the hallway, and being able to stop and talk with them.
