1 - Number one for social inclusion

WGU remains number one in England and Walesfor Social Inclusion for the fifth year running. That means that we believe in helping those who wish to access university study to do just that – regardless of barriers. 60.6 per cent of our students are the first in their family to go to university and 97.9 per cent are from non-selective state schools. One in five of our students have a registered disability and our inclusion services are there to provide the very best support.

2 - Number two in the UK for student satisfaction

The Complete University Guide (CUG) has ranked Glyndwr top for student satisfaction in England and Wales, and second in the whole of the UK, in the newly-published 2023 table. Our students tell us that their tutors are always on hand to help, and our community feel ensures that you’re always a name to us and never a number.

3 - Location, location, location

There’s a buzz around Wrexham, with visits from Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, a mysterious Wrexham sign making national news and a bid for Capital of Culture. But we’ve always known that this is the perfect place. Wrexham is celebrating the award of city status to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, recognising its unique community and distinct local identity. An urban location with a range of quirky shops, traditional pubs and fun bars, clubs and music venues with some of the world’s best beauty spots on its doorstep. It’s also within easy reach of the coast, mountains and the lively cities of Chester, Manchester and Liverpool.

4 - Top for Teaching Quality

WGU has been ranked in the top 10 for Teaching Quality in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023.

5 - Top-performing courses

6 - Our investment in facilities

Campus 2025 is Wrexham Glyndŵr University’s £60m strategy to enhance our local region and all of our campuses to ensure that our students have the best facilities and learning environment. Completed stunning learning spaces include The Gallery and The Study, Enterprise Lounge, Moot Court, Business Simulation Suite, B Hive, Huddle Room, and Alive Hub, as well as renovations to our arts and design base at Regent Street.

Longer-term plans include creating a gateway building at the heart of the Plas Coch campus which will become the main entrance to the university and house the new Student Union, as well as a brand new engineering block.

7 - Our Active Learning Framework

The Covid-19 pandemic changed the way we all do things, and not all changes were for the worse. We’ve taken the things that made life easier and mixed them with important traditional practices to come up with a student-focused balance of blended learning.
